The battalion S-3 assists the battalion commander in planning, preparation, conduct, and supervision of all events and training activities of the battalion. Additionally, the S-3 keeps the commander advised on the progress of events and training.
Specific duties of the S-3 are to:
- Prepare the weekly training schedules and post one week in advance of training on the bulletin board
- Organize events such as extracurricular activities.
- Inspect cadet training for compliance
- Maintain the training portions of cadet records in the JROTC Unit Management System (JUMS)
-Assume command of the battalion in the absence of both the battalion commander and XO
